GEICO Withdraws Sponsorship of the Glenn Beck Show...Under Political Pressure
8/14/2009
Upon discovering that GEICO has decided to withdraw its sponsorship of the Glenn Beck show in an effort:
"to avoid programming that we believe our customers and potential customers might find extremely offensive."I have decided to write them an e-mail expressing my dissatisfaction with their decision. I have been a customer of GEICO for the vast majority of my 38 years of driving. My parents first began using GEICO even longer. That may well change with this revelation.
I am offended that they would bow to an organized campaign by a Leftist African-American advocacy organization, ColorofChange.org. I am offended that they don't seem to have the same fastidiously "non-political" standards when it comes to MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN.
Among the comments that GEICO management found to be extremely offensive was his comment that President Obama was "a racist" who "has a deep-seated hatred for white people." Ah! I see, GEICO management has an objection to people who tell the truth. Who knew that the truth is now considered offensive.
It's not like Obama sat in a black supremacist church for 21 years listening to the racist anti-white rantings of Pastor Jeremiah Wright...oh wait, he did.
Anyway, I sent the following e-mail to GEICO:
To whom it may concern:Other targets of this campaign of censorship and hatred by these black racists are Proctor & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, and SC Johnson.
I have just learned that GEICO has pulled its advertising from the Glenn Beck Show. Apparently your company doesn't mind offending his many listeners.
You have objected to some of the "inflammatory rhetoric" (your words, not mine) that Mr. Beck uses on his program; apparently you are not so particular with those you sponsor on MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN.
In fact it would appear that only those who express Conservative principles are objectionable.
Fine, this is a free country-for the time being-and as a private corporation, you are free to sponsor whom you choose.
As a customer for the majority of my 38 years of driving, I too am free to make choices.
Because of this decision, I am now considering whether or not to continue to allow GEICO the privilege of providing my coverage or whether or not it would behoove me to change insurance carriers to a company more amenable to the free flow of ideas from both sides of the political spectrum.
I fear that you will find this marketing decision considerably more expensive than you initially thought. I assure you it is making ripples through the conservative "blogosphere" with astounding rapidity.
Please enjoy your shrinking profitability due to this "business decision."
Well there's no hope for Progressive, their name is a reflection of their politics, but there is good reason to boycott P&G products and SC Johnson products...hey, if it's good for the Left, maybe it's time that we on the right use the same tactics.
As I am posting this commentary I am now considering with whom I will replace GEICO...who knows, I might even save some money.
Long Live Our American Republic!!!!

I guess your letter to GEICO and mine cancelled each other out. I wrote them to applaud their dropping sponsorship of that nut job. If companys continue to drop him, Fox will be able to advertise the Glen Beck Show "without commercial interruption" LOL.
I'm all for you voting against Geico by withdrawing your patronage tohough. I did the same to Coors Beer years ago because of Josheph Cooor's right wing views, and I haven't bought a single can since.
Does anyone have a list of Rush Limbaugh sponsors? I think he's a cancer in the fabric of our society. I believe he is evil pure and simple.
Yeah I bet you do...never listened to a single minute of his program but believe every story you ever heard about him...typical uninformed, knee-jerk liberal.
The only true evil I have seen in this country in the politcal sector is the Marxist Puppet currently occupying the White House and his enablers and handlers.
Obama is so incompetent as to make Jimmy Carter, the worst President in our nation's history, appear semi-competent; truly a amazing accomplishment.
Obama is such an unprepared and pathetic president that he makes former President George W. Bush look like George Washington.
Go back and drink some more Olbermann Kool-Aid, Chump.
