Reverend Al Sharpton Thinks African Americans are Chipanzees?
2/19/2009
Yesterday's New York Post [for the full sized cartoon follow the link and enter the date of the cartoon, Feb. 18th] featured the following political cartoon:
I would bet that the first reaction of most who saw that cartoon would be to relate the dead chimpanzee to Travis, the chimp that the NYPD was forced to kill yesterday after he ran amok, not President Barack Obama.Reverend Al Sharpton, on the other hand, immediately reached the conclusion that the chimpanzee depicted must represent President Obama. Who knew he was such a racist?
It's odd that most people I know had no such reaction and drew no such parallel. I guess it takes a Liberal to be a true racist.
My initial reaction to the cartoon was to conclude that the cartoonist was implying that the "stimulus" bill was so inane that it could only have been written by an ape, possibly Travis (who, it was revealed, was capable of a fairly high level of rational thought...for an ape...well okay...for a Democrat).
I thought (and still think) it was a great commentary on the "stimulus" bill and the idiots who voted for it. It reminds me of those GEICO ads with the cavemen...
Announcer: "Such a stupid bill only a chimpanzee could have written it."Any imputed racial overtones must come from intellectual baggage carried by those who still relate African Americans to apes...you know...people like Reverend Al Sharpton.
Most people are offended by that which they secretly fear to be true about themselves. No one secure in their own identity would be offended by this political cartoon or impute racial motives to a cartoonist that has shown no such tendencies in the past.
Only one who lacks any sense of self, or one who is so cynical that he is willing to use any opportunity for his own self aggrandizement...such as portraying himself as a "victim"...in order to gain as a result, would react as Reverend Al Sharpton has.
One would hope that Americans have moved past those old racial stereotypes; most Conservatives have, but once again we are shown how far Liberals have to go before they shed the old racism that has so characterized the Democrat party of the past.
The sad fact is that this is nothing more than another attempt by Al Sharpton to push his way into the spotlight that has been focused on President Obama and to divert the public's attention away from his increasingly severe tax evasion problems.
It's just as Ann Coulter has discussed in her newest book, GUILTY, Liberals love to use the "victim" card as a means to oppress others. Al Sharpton is portraying himself as a victim for his own gain. This is the same tactic that Reverend Jesse Jackson has used with much success to extort $millions from businesses across America by charging them with insensitivity to racial issues and threatening to boycott their businesses if they failed to pony up enough money...all in the name of "racial harmony" of course. The money always goes to some charity...like...say...umm...ah! Jesse Jackson's own personal charity, the RainbowPush Coalition for example.
I hope the owners of the New York Post have the guts to thumb their collective noses at Sharpton, but if history is any teacher, they will cave in eventually. Too bad. It was a clever cartoon...a little too insensitive to me considering that the chimpanzee story was a tragedy...but still, it was clever and Sean Delonas is a good political cartoonist. I guess he'll get fired now.
Too bad Liberals don't believe in our Constitution or our Bill of Rights. They seem bound and determined to stifle all speech and press opposed to their agenda. Remember President Obama believes our Constitution to be an "impediment," rather than the greatest governmental document ever written.
Long Live Our American Republic!!!!

Well, I think that he has looked himself in the mirror many times, that he is now convinced they all are.
