Post Apologizes...Sort of...Then Smacks Sharpton

Will Malven
2/20/2009

Well I knew they would never weather the storm being stirred up by Reverend Al "Tax Cheat" Sharpton, but the wording of the "apology" was pretty good.

First came the non-apology apology (this insincere practice has become so commonplace-usually by Democratic politicians-that people hardly notice anymore):
"...to those who were offended by the image, we apologize..."
Using that passive tense is always good, you automatically lay the blame on the person who was offended. Then came the zinger:

"However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past - and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback.

To them, no apology is due.

Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon - even as the opportunists seek to make it something else."
That means you Al-Baby! It's good to see the New York Post stand up to Sharptons' Stalinist tactics and attempted extortion. It's good to see Al Sharpton get slapped down. I hope the folks at the Post can continue to weather the storm.

Come on people! This guy is a self-admitted tax cheat. He has agree to pay the IRS $ millions in back taxes he and his "nonprofit organization," the National Action Network failed to pony up when it was owed.

Al Sharpton represents what is worst in American Liberal politics. He is a bottom feeding race pimp who feeds on the anger and misery of others. He stokes the flames of racial hatred for his personal prestige, power, and profit.

Even now Tax-Cheat Sharpton is trying to pressure the Post by proposing to

"challenge the waiver of News Corp in the City where they own several television stations and newspapers."
[from the pages of the National Action Network] It is Sharpton who should be protested and boycotted. By perpetuating the "victim" mentality among blacks, he and his ilk do far more damage to the American psyche and the African American community than any other individual or organization.

Bravo New York Post! I just wish you had not apologized in any way at all.

Long Live Our American Republic!!!!

You appear to be the typical CON conservative. I note the excellent quote of George Washington, citing the necessity of a Constitution and Laws made in pursuance thereof as a "impediment". But then you try to dis President Barrack Obama for acknowledging the Constitution is an impediment. Apparently you preferred Bush & Cheney "the Constitution is archaic" and their claim of "Executive Privilege" to disregard any impediment to their power.

www.XXXXXX.org for TRUE conservativism. We want to CONSERVE what those who hide under the label of 'conservative' seek to destroy.

Like most Liberals and self-proclaimed "TRUE Conservatives," you choose to put words into the mouths (or keyboards) of others which they have never said.

You are, by implication, saying that one cannot "dis" President "Empty Suit" Obama for derrogating the constitution without applauding President Bush's failures. That is not the case.

Because I failed, in this instance (actually I should say "that case," as you placed your comment on the wrong article), to condemn President Bush, does not imply assent or approbation of any alleged abuses.

I will, however state that "Executive Privilege" is a constitutional and well established principle with loads of precedents; including the Supreme Court's affirmation of that power in United States v. Nixon.

"Presidential signing statements," which you neglected to mention,
have a far less certain legality and the practice of partial negation of congressional intent, which began under President Reagan, should probably be evaluated directly by the SCOTUS, but until that time, they too enjoy substatial precedent.

As for the "archaic" claim, please source this allegation. Oh and good luck on that.

I suggest you learn the facts before you begin to criticize someone.

There is only one thing more contemptible than someone who makes false allegations against another, and that is someone who post anonymously because they lack the guts to post under their own name and who does so solely to pimp their own website, which I will not allow.

I doubt you are a Conservative. Certainly the website you attempted to tout has nothing to do with what you label as "TRUE conservatism."

Your website appears to be driven solely by your own personal vendetta against the Texas system of justice and unrelated to any editorial posted on my website.
