McCain's German Experience Much More Relevant to Americans

In a coup worthy of the greatest publicity seeker, McCain managed to upstage and slap down Barack Obama in a single trip to a German restaurant in German Village, Ohio.

By staging his own German event, Presidential hopeful John McCain played Obama for the fool, making the Presumptuous Democrat Nominee look arrogant and out of touch.

It may come as news to Barack Obama, and his Democrat adorers in the MSM, but as much as they believe they should be able to, Europeans cannot vote in an American Presidential election. Thus Obama's bizarre and somewhat unseemly speech before 200,000 Germans, most of whom appeared more curious than worshipful is singularly out of place.

Americans (hopefully) want a President who will be President of the United States of America, not President of the European Union.

As for Barack's speech, it was very well written for him, very well delivered by him, full of soaring phrases, and almost completely devoid of substance...kind of like Barack himself.

Democrats, and Barack in particular are entirely about style rather than substance, and his speech Thursday brought that jarringly into focus.

Even more interesting to me was the measured response by the assembled 200,000 attendees. The reception they gave Barack Obama was polite, but somewhat more reserved than, I suspect, Obama's campaign expected.

In the approximately 30 applause lines, response was positive, but lacked the enthusiasm of the receptions given Kennedy, Nixon, and Reagan.

In some ways that is to be expected, as the other three were Presidents rather than candidates for the Presidency, but I doubt that the reception Barack Obama has received met with his campaigns expectations.

McCain indirectly questioned the propriety of an American Presidential Candidate giving a political speech in Europe saying, "I'd love to give a speech in Germany, a political speech, a speech that maybe the German people would be interested in, but I'd much prefer to do it as president of the United States, rather than as a candidate for the office of the presidency.”

Also of note; McCain didn't simply upstage Obama with his good natured mockery of Barack's trip to Germany, he soundly spanked Obama for his lack of understanding of how victory is being achieved in Iraq and repeating his charge, justifiably made, that "Obama has shown that he would rather lose a war than a political campaign."

McCain also took Obama to task over his failure to visit our wounded troops at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. McCain is not alone in finding it curious that Obama would deem it "inappropriate" to visit our wounded warriors. Perhaps that is the reason that the Obama camp has now issued three separate explanations as to why he "dissed" those young heroes.

The longer this campaign goes on, the more unsuited for the White House Barack Obama appears.

His arrogance and ignorance combine to make him a perfect Liberal, and a presumptuous and unacceptable would be President.

Way to go John. When I saw you at that German restaurant, I laughed out loud. Talk about a complete in your face slapdown...

Long Live Our American Republic!!!

Hey!
Thanks for sharing your opinion. But please allow me to put it a little into perspective...

"Americans (hopefully) want a President who will be President of the United States of America, not President of the European Union."
I remember that in 2003, most countries in Europe decided to oppose the Iraq war because they did not see a justification for an invasion and didn't trust Bush's reasoning of Saddam's posession of WMDs and his connections to 9/11. Oh well... I'm actually hoping for the next US president to not invade another country for no reason (but oil...) when NATO says no. A stronger cooperation with Europe would be a good start there!

"Obama has shown that he would rather lose a war than a political campaign." And McCain has not answered the question of how he defines victory in Iraq... And you might as well say: McCain has shown that he would rather neglect the real problems of national security than loose a political campaign.

"The longer this campaign goes on, the more unsuited for the White House Barack Obama appears."
You can say the very same about John McCain. His proposal of a national "gas tax holiday" is as dumb, foolish and nonsubstantial as it gets. And just this week, your beloved candidate said:
"We have a lot of work to do and I’m afraid that it’s a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border."
This is not miss-speaking, this demonstrates his level of knowledge about the Middle East, and I'm frightened by the fact that a guy who signed and approved the invasion of a country without knowing its neighboring states, might be the next president of the United States. And foreign policy is what McCain claims to be best in! Ob boy...

And most importantly, McCain still uses the terminology "Axis of Evil". Among all the many many failures that Bush has made in the last 8 years, this was probably the worst one, as it laid out the basis for many others. This terminology implies that the leaders of Iran, North Corea etc. are purely bad people, that they were born evil, and that they are opposing the US because they "hate" the freedom that the American people enjoy, and that nothing will ever change their mind. What a bullsh...! This Batman vs. Joker attitude is what causes the rebellions that go on in the middle east every day. This attitude is what makes people in these regions upset, and what makes it so easy for terrorist groups to recruit new members. And as long as America keeps this mindset, the people that suffer from it will express their protests against America: who seeds violence will harvest violence. The only way to "win" these conflicts without changing your mindset and approach is by establishing a forceful dictatorship over the entire Middle East. Is that McCain's goal? When I compare how the two candidates talk about these issues, Obama seems to me the only one who at least seems to understand my point. If McCain's "experience" boils down to the attitude towards the Middle East that he has expressed so far in his campaign speeches, his presidency is going to be as big a failure as Bush's.

Sincerely!

Oh look, another "courageous" anonymous Liberal liar spouting Obama talking points.

Thank-you for sharing. Now go away until your brain finishes developing. Your reasoning is sophomoric and your arguments naive and dishonest.

I know you are a Liberal because your post exudes that particular combination of ignorance and arrogance that only a Liberal can possess.

"I remember that in 2003..."

Your memory is faulty, no one with access to intelligence data doubted that Saddam Hussein had WMD, not in the Bush administration, not in Congress, not in the Clinton Administration, and not in the EU (it’s the reason for the sanctions, the 17 UN resolutions, and the inspectors).

Europe's inaction was based on their lack of guts to do anything about it (apparently all of the European genes for courage were lost in fighting two world wars) and the corrupting influence of huge sums of money members of their government and officials in the UN were making by helping Saddam violate the embargo.

I'm glad you are comfortable allowing Europeans to dictate American foreign policy, I'm not. The European record for "success" in the Middle East (and the rest of the world for that matter) is abysmal.

That you lack an understanding of what victory is, speaks more to your ability to comprehend what has been said than to any failure of President Bush and/or Senator McCain to define it.

President Bush outlined what victory would look like very clearly, years ago. If you are too full of Euro-Democrat Kool-Aid to understand it, that's not my problem. I am much more disturbed by Democrats' efforts to undermine our troops and our government. Why is it that Obama has fought so strenuously against our victory?

He voted against the troop surge (a legitimate, if faulty choice) and then he voted against funding for equipping our troops (a despicable and life endangering choice).

If Obama had gotten his way, we would have left Iraq in March of last year, leaving it to fall into chaos and anarchy and allowing al Qaeda to build a new base of operations in Iraq. That truly is a lack of vision and understanding on his (and your) part.

Even post surge, with no one but a few dishonest Democrats doubting it's success, Obama is unable to admit that he was wrong and the surge has succeeded. The man doesn't even have the intellectual honesty to admit when he was wrong.

Instead of having character, he is one.

As for the gasoline tax holiday, it must be nice to be so wealthy that you can afford to simply toss $5 or $10 to the federal government every week and not care. Some of us are not so lucky.

Of course what you fail to say is, even that pittance is far more relief for consumers than anything Obama has suggested. In fact Obama wants higher gasoline prices, his only "beef" is that the "adjustment came to quickly." Yep spoken like another "compassionate and caring" Liberal. Obama's definitely "a man of the people," only his people are the wealthy elitist Left-wingers who are ever ready to spend other people's money to advance their causes.

You find it disturbing when McCain misspeaks about borders; I find it even more disturbing that your candidate can't tell our enemies from our friends.

I find the Liberal arrogance and naïveté, as expressed in the belief that evil men will simply turn away from their chosen path if you only explain to them where they are in error, far more disturbing than McCain misspeaking of borders.

Such naïveté is not misspeaking; it is illustrative of a complete lack of understanding, both of history and of human nature.

I'd rather have a president who was intelligent enough to know that you cannot negotiate with people like Ahmadinejad and the mullahs who run Iraq.

I'd rather have a president who recognizes the lessons of the past and is aware of the need to confront our enemies rather than appease them.

Obama's philosophy in dealing with hostile nations is about on par with that of Neville Chamberlain and we would get pretty much the same result with Iran that Britain got with Hitler's Germany if we followed his recommendations.

The fact that you Liberal Kool-aid drinkers can't understand the difference between our enemies and our allies is one of the gravest dangers America faces.

Your and your candidate would allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, just as the last Democrat administration allowed North Korea (if you are going to pretend to be an American you really ought to learn how to spell like an American) to develop a nuclear arsenal with your bogus treaty.

Oh yeah, one more thing "Brainiac," before you make commentaries, I suggest you find out what the target of your commentaries thinks. McCain is not my "beloved candidate," and even a cursory effort on your part would have informed you of that.

McCain is the last person I would have nominated and if he weren't facing a brainless, inexperienced, and dangerously naive, socialist Soros puppet, I would not vote for him.

Unfortunately, I am forced to support McCain simply because, as unsuited as he is to hold the White House, he is infinitely more capable than the empty suit you support.
