Markey-Malarky: Global Warming Caused "Black Hawk Down" Incident

It never ceases to amaze me that seemingly intelligent people can believe...and even vote for...Liberal politicians.

Take Edward Markey (D-MA) for example. A paragon of Democratic Party virtues with his "wannabe Kennedy" hairstyle and his "wannabe Kennedy" manner. He is a true blue Kool-Aid drinker of the first order.

CNS News reported yesterday that on July 10th Markey told a group of 25 high school students from the World Wildlife Fund's Allianz Southeast Climate Witness Program:

“In Somalia back in 1993, climate change, according to 11 three- and four-star generals, resulted in a drought which led to famine.

That famine translated to international aid we sent in to Somalia, which then led to the U.S. having to send in forces to separate all the groups that were fighting over the aid, which led to Black Hawk Down.

There was this scene where we have all of our American troops under fire because they have been put into the middle of this terrible situation.” [It was caused by President Clinton's decision to cut and run from Somalia and Clinton Defense Secretary Les Aspin's refusal to send the troops the equipment they had requested, not by AGW]

Markey-Malarky also falsely conflated the Katrina disaster with anthropogenic (caused by man) global warming (AGW), a causal relationship which was debunked numerous times before, during, and after the 2005 storm.

The only truthful part of his claim was that the debate about whether Katrina was caused by global warming was over. He was right about that. There was no attributable causal effect.

More Markey-Malarky:

“There now is no question that this harm is being caused by human activity. It’s warming up the planet and melting the glaciers. There is an underwater heat wave going on. [Current data show subsurface ocean temperatures are cooling, Mr. Markey] The waters get warmer and warmer and that intensifies the storms and creates even greater havoc when those storms reach land. [Another assumption not supported by the facts]

The planet is running a fever. It’s heating up but there is no emergency rooms for planets. The worst consequences affect the planet -- not only New Orleans -- but the whole planet.

The same thing is true by the way with Darfur. Darfur is really about water. This is an issue which really goes to the heart of the incredible impact that climate change is having upon our planet." [Uh yeah Markey, if you say so, now explain how AGW caused all of the previous droughts in the Sudan over the past several millenia]

As one can tell from his remarks, truly Edward Markey, like Albert Gore, Jr., is one of the Left's intellectual giants.

One can also tell that Markey is one of Al Gore, Jr.'s Kool-Aid drinkers and as such, he has no need for facts. He is sustained in his delusional state by his faith in the Gospel of Al Gore, Jr.

As a Liberal, Markey would never let the facts get in the way of a good leftist lie, but I doubt was lying in this case. The claims, as he explained them, are so absurd on the surface of that only a true believer like Markey could believe them.

He is just an uninformed idiot. Unfortunately he is an uninformed idiot who can directly affect our nation's economy.

As for the kids, don't worry about them, as members of the World Wildlife Fund's Allianz Southeast Climate Witness Program they are already so far gone that his words merely reinforce what they already believe.

What we need to guard against is that the rest of our children don't fall for this mythology posing as science.
