"No Bill!" Harris County Grand Jury Refuses to Indict Joe Horn
The Harris County grand jury investigating Joe Horn voted today not to indict Pasadena, Texas resident Joe Horn for shooting to men he witnessed burglarizing his neighbor's house.
Justice prevails still here in Texas!!!
Here's the Houston Chronicles report:

A Harris County grand jury decided today that Joe Horn should not be charged with a crime for shooting two suspected burglars he confronted outside his neighbor's home in Pasadena last fall.
The decision to clear Horn of wrongdoing came two weeks after the grand jury began considering evidence in the case, including Horn's testimony last week.
Horn, a 62-year-old retiree, became the focus of an intense public debate after the Nov. 14 shootings. Many supporters praised him as a hero for using deadly force to protect property, while others dismissed him as a killer who should have heeded a 911 operator's instructions to stay in his house and wait for police.

God Bless You Joe Horn.
May you live a less eventful life in the future. Know that to many Americans, you are a hero.

The guys were stealing, not committing rape or murder. You call yourself "conservative" and condone shooting someone in the back? A HERO??? You're sick as he is. The guy obviouly has a loose screw or is just a big Pasadena redneck.
Now I must ask you Anonymous, is it his fault the the two cowardly rascals did not surrender but instead turned and ran like the rabid dogs they were?
Wasn't Horn preventing the two Colombians from committing a further felony of leaving the scene of a crime?
Was it Horn's fault that they came ill prepared, as they came to a gun fight thinking it was a burglary?
I'll bet there has been a sharp reduction in burglaries in Mr. Horn's neighborhood.
What I condone "anonymous" , you coward, is killing criminals who are a threat to all law abiding citizens.
It was a good clean kill, we need a lot more like this...society would be a lot safer and better off. We wouldn't have to worry about scum like these taking things that don't belong to them.
If they had been working for a living instead of preying on the innocent, they would be alive today.
OB, you believe it was Horn's place to execute two people, I don't - my opinion. They may be a reduction in burglaries, but I wouldn't be surprised if the murder rate increases, by at least one.
And, Mal, my feeling is that, like Joe, you, too, are a coward for praising and lauding anyone who shoots someone in the back. You ain't the law out of your own castle, dimwit.
God forgive all 5 of you.
anonymous coward, you don't even know the law and you call me a dimwit?
Too stupid to do any research, or just too lazy...er...busy waiting for your drugs to kick in.
In virtually every state in the United States, the right of "citizen'a arrest" is recognized by the state. Every citizen has the right to step in and stop a crime in progress and to detain the criminals. He also has the right to use appropriate force.
Judging from the state of these two criminals, a 12 ga. pump-action shotgun was appropriate. Those two scumbag criminals won't be terrorizing any more homes or neighborhoods.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
In case you think I'm some lefty anti-gun liberal, be advised I am a 55 year-old female conservative and member of the NRA - but above that, I'm a Christian, and I don't believe the crime of burglary of a habitation alone is punishable by death, but that's what Joe did, and I find that very wrong and our "justice" system is so screwed up and inconsistent it's sickening, but I digress. I don't know, nor do I care, if you think I'm a coward because I remain anonymous, or because I would let the law handle a crime being committed next door, rather than being judge and executioner, but I know I wouldn't want anyone who spews venom the way you do and who sounds positively giddy over someone being killed to know my identity. I accidentally happened on your site and be assured I won't be back!
Too bad you are so willing to surrender your safety to criminals because you:
"don't believe the crime of burglary alone is punishable by death."
I'll bet the parole officers who released these two guys thought the same thing:
"...two criminals both had long rap-sheets for burglary...nothing any more serious...they broke into the Dr. Petit's house, forced him to withdraw money from an atm, and beat him about the head with a baseball bat. They then proceded to beat and rape his wife and their two daughters Hayley-17, and Michaela-11 over a period of several hours. They then set fire to the house killing the wife and both daughters."
There is no minor crime. Too bad you blame the man who acted within the law, rather than the criminals who broke the law. Joe Horn never intended to kill these two (if you had bothered to inform yourself, you would know this), he went out to stop a crime from being committed in his neighbor's house.
I doubt very seriously that you are a Conservative and an NRA member.
Bye.
I also find it amusing that, having attacked me personally in your first comment (not a very "Christian" way of behaving) and having attacked Joe Horn personally (again not a very "Christian" thing to do), you take umbrage at being replied to in kind.
As a "Christian" you must know that when you make this statement:
"The guy obviouly has a loose screw or is just a big Pasadena redneck,"
you are guilty of a sin. Jesus said "but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."Matthew 5:22
Better watch out for your immoral...oops...I mean immortal soul.
Very much more of a Liberal's reaction than what I would expect of a "Conservative."
You Liberals are too funny thinking you can pass yourselves off as Conservative, NRA member, Christians, and then preach straight from the Liberal's handbook.
well, shoot (not literally, of course), I just had to look and now I see you are judging me -- Judge not lest ye be judged, also, Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord -- since you are in a scripture-quoting mood. DIMWIT: idiot, stupid, moron, jerk (and yes, fool); but, if I had meant "fool", I'd have said "fool". but let's not get off into semantics. You are going off onto something that has no relevance to the original issue.
It is heatedly debated that Mr. Horn acted within the law, but there were enough like you who felt that he was. Hurray for Mr. Horn and other trigger happy guys and gals out there.
You are showing gross ignorance in your statements reflecting your thoughts that a Christian conservative should be sinless. Nobody but Jesus fit that bill. We are cleansed of our sins by the blood of Christ but we are not to sin willfully - which I was not. If you were hurt by my words, I do apologize. I was mad, just like Mr. Horn was and apparently so very many others. I do not support crime or those who commit it just because I think he handled it wrong. Why you take that stance is odd.
As much as you don't want to believe it, I'm white, own a gun, believe in gun rights, am pro-life, and believe in the death penalty. I simply disagree with the glee you feel over somebody killing someone, and calling it a "good clean kill", like they were animals, but I do understand that you consider them animals, even though they were created in the image of God, just like you. Whatever the facts are surrounding the case (and just because someone says something is true, doesn't make it so), there's a day coming when we'll all answer for our actions and words. I don't believe God is going to honor anyone for gunning someone down when they were told to wait for the law, nor do I think He is going to be happy with people who praise the action and promote it.
See you at the polls.
Dear child, don't apologize, words (inspite of what Obama would say) are just words and the only pain they carry are the pain we allow them to.
As for Joe Horn being "trigger happy," I for one am saddened at the loss of anyone's life, but these two men brought their fate upon themselves.
If you had done as much research on this subject as I, you would know that Joe Horn commanded them to stop. His exact words were, "You move, you die."
The time which elapsed was between his warning and the shots was long enough for him to have placed himself at risk for being attacked.
Please follow the two links in this blog article and read what actually occurred before judging Mr. Horn.
AS for the "good, clean, kill" comment, you need to learn the difference between sarcasm and serious commentary. That statement, admittedly in poor taste, was meant to irritate you, not to evaluate the lives of the two men who were killed.
Whether Joe was justified or not, God will determine what was in his heart and in his actions. I only admonish you to recall the horrendous things that happened to the Pettit family before you judge Joe Horn too harshly for his actions.
Quite often time and circumstances dictate our actions. So it was with Joe Horn.
Peace be with you.
Oh, and if you are going to comment on the words of a polimicist like me, develop a much thicker skin.
I bear neither you nor anyone else any ill will, but I will continue to stand up for those who stand up for community and law over those who prey on the citizens of our society, like Ortiz and Reyes.
You should know that anyone of our founding fathers, Jefferson, Madison, Washington, any one of them would have done the same thing Joe Horn did. They considered the right to won property to be the right from which all other rights spring.
Cheers!
You are correct - I did not do the research I should have, and I do have rather thin skin! I just hate the thought of this event causing rampant shootings and perhaps innocent people getting caught in the crossfire. Also, the next Joe Horn might not be afforded the same "verdict" by a grand jury - and where will the justice be in that.
Peace back at you.
BTW, it is not the person I am judging but the hypocrisy of their words...to attack then take umbrage at being attacked in return...to judge another, then take umbrage at being judged.
I don't expect perfection from anyone, but I do expect them to be able to pay for their mistakes without becoming indignant over it.
I hope you will return. I bear you no ill will, I just like punching buttons. A weakness of mine, I know, but I just can't help it.
Okay - you will be my local Glen Beck and Michael Savage - no offense, I hope.
And I didn't mean to be hypocritical, though I guess I was.
Think I'll go talk with the good Lord now - feeling like I need it.
you button pusher - ha
