The AARP Alternative American Seniors Association (No Longer NASCON)

Well I have visited the ASA website, and it appears that they remain a viable alternative to the very Liberal AARP.
I have added a new commentary on AARP, ASA, and Obama care here.

I've noticed that a lot of people have been visiting my website in search of NASCON, the AARP alternative organization that was established some two or three years ago, and to which I have maintained a link (now non-working).
I am glad to say that I tracked them down and they have changed their name from NASCON to ASA, American Seniors Association.
From their website, http://www.americanseniors.org/ you can find out about all of the benefits they offer. Perscription benefits, Medicare Plans, Insurance Products and more. For those of you tired of the AARP working for the Democrat Party, you now have an alternative with a Conservative friendly agenda.
As they say on their website, "Now You Have A Choice."
Here is their latest news bulletin:American Seniors Association Denounces Democrats for Slashing Medicare, Raising Taxes to Expand Government-Run Health CareAs you can tell these folks have the right agenda for those who believe in good government, not big government. If you have been searching for an alternative to the anti-American, Democratic Party shill group euphemistically calling themselves "the American Association for Retired People," you have now found it.
ASA: “Pelosi Power Grab Pits Children Against Grandparents, Fosters Intergenerational Warfare, and Ushers in Hillary Care 2.O”
The American Seniors Association, a grassroots advocacy organization for American seniors, today denounced the Democratic-led House of Representatives for passing a massive expansion of the S-CHIP program for children that included a massive tax increase and slashed funding for Medicare Advantage by $157 billion. The legislation was a top priority for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
“The Pelosi power grab is nothing more than Hillary Care 2.0,” said Jerry Barton, founder of ASA, which has 40,000 members nationwide and is the fastest-growing seniors organization in the country. “It takes a health care program created by Republicans that was intended for low-income children and extends it to families making up to $82,000 a year. It slashes Medicare funding by $157 billion. It limits health care choices for millions of senior. This is anti-senior and anti-taxpayer and we’ll oppose this big government health care scheme with all our energy and effort.”
An estimated 90 percent of children in families earning between 300% and 400% above the poverty level are already covered by private health insurance. Yet the Democratic House plan would remove these children from private health plans and put them in a government welfare bureaucracy---and slash managed care programs for seniors to pay for it.
“This big-government health care scheme pits children against their grandparents and fosters intergenerational warfare,” charged Barton. “It is clear that Democrats in Congress plan to finance government-run universal health care on the backs of America ’s seniors.”
Barton vowed to educate American seniors on the consequences of the legislation and inform millions of seniors on how their member of Congress voted. American Seniors Association is a grassroots organization that advocates sound public policy on behalf of American seniors through lower taxes, Medicare and Social Security reform, and fiscal responsibility.
I have no relationship with this organization, except my agreement with their rejection of the Democrat Party campaign for a "nanny state."
I will be placing a new link, with the proper website on the Right-hand column of my webpage so that you will now be able to find them easily anytime you wish.
Down with AARP, Up with American values and the ASA!

I have been looking for an alternative to AARP and I came upon this website. The editor's note said that he tried to contact ASA/Nascon and he received no reply. He said that he "more's the pity" that the link he had for the AARP alternative was not working but he would leave it posted in this article.
I just tried it and it linked me to American Seniors which represents itself as an AARP alternative.
http://www.americanseniors.org/
Does anyone know about this group? Is it a real attempt to be an AARP alternative OR just an insurance agency who has captured this name and is just using the "AARP alternative" as a marketing tool to sell their insurance?
AARP is now in the tank advocating "shared health care" or single-payer, Universal Health Care!!! Economic reality (47 million uninsured who cannot afford premiums + 12-20 million illegal aliens on the pathway to citizenship after the elections)- the cost to our government, overcapacity for health-care facilities and health-care providers will soon force choices to be made - child health care vs. quality senior health care. Can anyone tell me how this will benefit seniors in any way and isn't this what AARP is supposed to be all about?
schmooz...I didn't say the link to ASA wasn't working, I said that I have been unable to get in touch with them.
The link to which I was referring was the link to NASCON. That was because they had changed their name to ASA.
The link to ASA still works, but I have gotten no response to my inquiries.

ASA needs to get their act together, because we need a conservative alternative to AARP. Someone please help them. They definitely are not a going concern at the moment - the website does not even have a secure way to buy a membership on-line.
Mr. Malven:
Thank you maintaining this website and assisting me in finding the ASA.
Best regards,
Mike
I would like more information on AARP Alternitive. We need an organization to be members of that really supports the needs of seniors.
One that is not selling us out to the OBAMA health care which cares nothing about the seniors.

I cancelled my AARP membership today and ask for a refund since my membership was paid up until May 2011. They ask for a comment as to why I was cancelling. I told them I was no longer going to support their liberal learnings.
There is a faith-based alternative to AARP. I've used them for 10 years (or their predecessor.)
The "Significant Living" non-profit.
http://www.significantliving.org/
AARP's positions have been consistantly pro-government, liberal, and anti-Christian for decades.
Losing a few memberships from informed people who care will not "un-spot" this "Fat Cat" liberal leopard.
There's far more to this push by liberals than the "healthcare issue." Do the math! Ask your financial advisor if the scenario below seems probable:
2+1+1= 4! -- Obama Knows Death (Estate) Taxes Will Bring in Trillions to Pay for His Deficit ... If the Baby Boomer's Deaths (and their parents') Can be Accelerated!
After the 2010 elections, the Estate Tax (the Death Tax) reverts to more than 50%. (The "unified estate tax and gift exemption" can be changed at the time the reversion of the "old rates" is codified.)
History’s largest transfer of wealth is upon us - the transfer of family assets to the Baby Boomers and their childen, coupled with the effect of our current tax law, and compounded by the costs of chronic, long term care.
It will occur in four stages…
1. The Parents of the Baby Boomers Die….. Multi Billions of Tax Revenues will be collected by the government. Boom!
2. We (the Baby Boomers) die… Our Children get no more than 25% of the wealth formerly owned by our parents (their grandparents.) Multi-Trillions will confiscated as death taxes. Double Boom!!
3. The Trillions in IRA’s, 401-K’s, SEPs and other “Qualified Plans” will be forcefully liquidated at “regular income tax rates” (which will be increased) as “beneficiaries” start “taking” their Required Minimum Distributions when they turn age 70 ½! Triple Boom!!!
4. The final "financial healthcare crisis" is the cost of care for the Boomers’ and their parents’ chronic, Long Term Care. Medicaid will be unable to pay the costs unless massive taxes are mandated. Medicare does not pay for extended, chronic Long Term Care… and even if it did, massive tax increases would be necessary! This will add hundreds of billons to the above costs.
Boom!+Boom!=Double Boom!! Remember - 2+1+1=4!
This can all be accelerated if the Estate (Death) Tax can be reinstituted and increased.
Simultaneously, Americans will be deprived of the opportunity to extend their lifetimes by choosing their doctors and medical procedures… Heck, it won’t even matter if Gramps and Mom and Dad had enough assets to pay for their “end of life care” out of their own estates….. Those assets won’t be there.
… But, everything will work to “finalize” the government’s “plan” if medical care is rationed and enough people can be persuaded to invoke “palliative care.” (Remember Dr. Kerkovian?)
Where will all that money accumulated over 6-8 decades be? In the coffers of the government –
Is anyone going to tell the American people that the trillions that were borrowed, redistributed, and owed by their grandchildren will now be “paid” with the windfall death taxes “contributed” by the Baby Boomers and their parents as a result of collecting “death taxes”?
The “untaxed distributions” from Roth IRA’s are but a blip on the screen of this financial meltdown…
But these "income tax free accumulation account," like the other “Tax-Qualified Plans”- IRA’s 401-k-s, SEPs, etc., have one thing in common - The Government knows you have these asset accounts and how much money you have put into them.
Heck… all of this is “public record”!
What the Government knows about.. what and how much you own... they can take away!
(Think the census is just about counting people? Think again! They are gathering information on assets and citizens' activities.)
Very easy-to-use American Seniors Association website. We just joined ASA. You can easily pay with your credit card via their secure website. AARP does NOT speak for us so we joined ASA. $15.00 a year (can add spouse for free)and if you mail a cut-in-half AARP card they will add a second year of membership for free. We cut up our AARP, will NOT rejoin and plan to get the ASA 2nd year free.
Do you have any actual prove of any of this? Not that I don't like what your saying, I just want real prove that can be backed up. I don't know who you work for...
I just signed up online for our ASA membership after seeing the clip in the Houston Chronicle about a alternate to the liberal AARP.

When I tried to access the site of the American Seniors Association, Windows XP said I needed to download a file called "name.dll" to my computer before I could continue. Since I don't allow any site that I'm not familiar-with to download software onto my computer, so I backed out.
I'm interested in ASA, but if they seriously trying to gather members, it would be wise of them to not require people to download what could be spam or adware to their computer just to get on.
If anyone is a member there, you might mention that to them. I'll try back some other time.
A great conservative alternative to AARP is AMAC.(pronounced A-Mack)
The Association of Mature American Citizens has been very active organizing Tea parties and rallies. They have a quarterly magazine andmany benefit-all for $12.50/yr per household.
Check out www.amac.us
I just bought my new Medicare Supplement through American Seniors.

Thanks.
