First of all, let me express my thanks to Will for his kind invitation for me to post on this blog. Hopefully we will be able to provide you with a steady source of useful information about Texas state government and policy.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Texas Public Policy Foundation is a non-profit, free-market research institute based in Austin. Our research agenda is organized along five centers:
- Economic Freedom -- tort reform, insurance, energy, property rights
- Education -- public and higher
- Effective Justice -- criminal justice reform, over-criminalization, restorative justice
- Fiscal -- taxes and spending
- Health Care -- health care, welfare reform
Besides the dozens of research reports a year in these areas, we have a bi-weekly podcast called "Texas PolicyCast" that features an 8-10 minute interview on current policy issues. We have a weekly commentary that is sent to hundreds of newspapers across Texas. And we also put out press releases every once in a while. I will attempt to link as much of that content as I can on this site, but obviously, after a while, we'd be thrilled if you would just bookmark our site and drop by a couple of times a week.
