Strength of Character: Republicans Have It, Dims Don’t

Michelle Malkin has on her blog from yesterday,a perfect example of the differences between Republicans and Democrats. In Tuesday's debate among the three candidates for Senator in Connecticut, the Republican candidate Alan Schlesinger, demonstrated why it takes a Republican to handle conflict.

During one of his answers with millionaire Ned Lamont, Senator Joe Lieberman became the target of Leftist hecklers. Chanting "Lieberman Protects Cheney," these Lamont supporters refused to allow Joe Lieberman to continue in a statement he was making. Quick, how would you respond?

Your answer dictates whether you are:

  • an ineffectual Liberal Democrat moderator (and former Clinton White House suck-up)
  • a self-absorbed Liberal Democrat Wannabe
  • a weak Moderate Democrat
  • a Strong Republican.

Well true to form:

  1. Moderator George Stephanopoulis whined, "Will someone escort them our of here? You're only taking up time for the debate..."
  2. Ned Lamont, bored millionaire and perennial spoiled rich kid, sat and did absolutely nothing - well...he is an idiot Liberal...he probably didn't know how to react. After all he didn't want to aggravate his supporters, the protesters.
  3. Joe Lieberman wheedled, "C'mon, c'mon let the candidates talk," holding his hand low and palms outward in a gesture of helplessness. Once more the nice guy approach fails.
  4. Alan Schlesinger sat patiently until it became obvious that no one was going to do anything at which point he got up and said, "Show some respect for Senator Lieberman, leave this audience now! Enough!"

The resultant applause by the audience for Mr. Schlesinger's statement was loud and enthusiastic. I suspect it was the best applause line of the night. I have no way of knowing but, as boring as most of these debates are, it seems a good bet.

I know how I would respond, Ronald Reagan showed us the way back in the eighties, slap 'em down! Michelle also has that clip on her page, you know, the one in which Ronald Reagan told the heckler “Aww, Shut Up!” and got a standing ovation.

It’s past time to tell the hate mongers of the Left to “Shut Up!”

It’s time for conservatives to get mean! Next time you go to a public forum and some heckler starts in on a candidate or speaker, Left or Right, give it to ‘em with both barrels. Don’t just sit there and take it. (Hint, it will be a Liberal because only they refuse to allow their opponents to speak out).

I agree with one thing. Long Live the Republic of the United States of America.

Thank God it will be the Democrats who will be leading the rebirth of this great nation from the depths of depravity which those you celebrate have led it to. Republicans lack character sir.

You support torture. You support war waged without justification. You support lies by those who are supposed to be leading us. Lies on issues affecting hundreds of millions of people around the world. You support telling other people how they should live their life. You support the looting of the public coffers by those entrusted to keep them safe. You support entrusting children to child molesters. You support nothing but a cold worship of power.

What you support will be lifted from the face of these States in nine days time.

Forced to edit comment because like all Liberals, anonymous Thomas feels compelled to use obscenities, lies, and personal attack rather than facts...because he has none! Anyway here is his statement sans obscenity:

You accuse Republicans of depravity yet you embrace having the murderer Ted Kennedy as one of your most prominent spokesmen. You accuse Republicans of depravity yet while Mark Foley resigned immediately upon revelations of his wrong-doing, Congressman Studds refused to be reprimanded and was re-elected 5 times after his perversion was revealed. You accuse Republicans of depravity yet you worship Bill Clinton, a serial rapist...shall I go on?

You accuse me of supporting lies, when there have been none, except the your lie in making that accusation.

You accuse me of depravity, yet it is you who believes in mass infanticide here in America.

Looting the coffers? You mean like Harry Reid? Like Nancy Pelosi?

Your words are delusional and your policies are bankrupt. The socialist philosophy your party espouses has demonstrably failed everywhere it has been tried.

I worship power? Your right I worship God. You worship the state.

YOu are living in a fantasy world and in 9 days you will be soooo disappointed, and I will be laughing.

People like you make me feel embarrased to be a human.

wow, we have sunk to a new level of baseness in these posts. that goes for both sides of the debate.

but, Will, to assert that our former 2 term President is a "serial rapist." My goodness, things must really be bad. If you have any evidence to support that nutty allegation, please, first provide the Dept. of Justice with that information and then, let us all in on the facts you seem to have unearthed.

And, by the way, your Republican party controls all branches of the government--including the Executive/DOJ, so I'm sure your evidence will get a fair review. Please, keep us informed.

Oh, if you have no facts to support this, then I'd suggest you apologize immediately and formerly to us as well as our former President.

John,
I don't need to apologize, I suggest rather that you ask your beloved ex-president to apologize to Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, and Paula Jones. I thought that the definition of sexual harrassment was when one party, in authority (Bill Clinton) has sex (consentual or not) with a subordinate. It is the disparity of power that is supposed to make it harrassment.

Anonymous/Albert,

Thank-you for another perfect example of Liberal argument. You do your party credit. I know that your small primitive brain won't comprehend how absurd you are, you probably think you are being clever.

Send some more of your like minded friends over to insult me, it only re-enforces my arguments about Liberals and the quality of their arguments.

It is more fun to insult you that to argue with you.

Will

hold on -- now you said clinton was a "rapist" not a sexual harrasser. are you backing off your rapist allegation?

John,

Surely you are aware that Juanita Broaddrick flat out accused him of rape. She was not some crazed Clinton groupie, nor was she a Republican shill, she was a campaign worker on Bill's staff (no pun intended).
http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2006/10/02/democratic-culture-of-corruption-bill-clinton-rapist/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.worldnetdaily.com%2Fnews%2Farticle.asp%3FARTICLE_ID%3D33027&frame=true

Katheleen Willey was a close personal friend of the Clintons (so she thought) and an avid supporter, yet when she came to him for some help after her husband died, he groped her and tried to have sex with her. In her opinion, it was only the arrival of a member of Clinton's staff that she escaped being raped.

Paula Jones' investigators Mr. and Mrs. Rick Lambert told Matt Drudge on his Foxnews TV show the 2nd week of March 99 that several women had come forward that had been raped by Clinton. Two mothers informed them that their daughters had been raped by Clinton. One of the daughters who now lives in California was raped in the back of a limo.

Through intimidation and threats, Clinton has been able to suppress any testimony. The information is out there. Not much of it is in the form of depositions, but given the generally sociopathic behavior of Bubba, I believe the claims. The truth has never been in Bill Clinton. You may believe as you choose, but the old saying is that where there's smoke, there's fire, and there is a whole lot of smoke around Clintons sexual behavior.

Whose disappointed now? The nation has spoken. Bush is repudiated. As I write this it looks like both houses of Congress will be in our hands come January. Not a single Democratic incumbent lost. Dozens of Republicans got beat. Thank God!

I'll tell you who, the Iraqi people, the Afghani people including the hundreds of thousands who will die because the Democrats will cut and run from both countries.

I am truly disappointed. As are all who believe in freedom, capitalism, and life.
