Duke Lacrosse Team: A Leap to Convict Innocents
Filing: Second dancer called allegations a 'crock'Once more we see the fallacy of buying into the "women never lie about rape" argument of the Left. It is becoming more and more clear that the lives of these Duke University students have been severely damaged solely on the word of a stripper and the political aspirations of a cut-rate District Attourney. This pandering prosecutor needs to be drummed out of office. His self-seeking political aspirations have cost these three young men dearly.

The second dancer in the Duke lacrosse case told police early on that allegations of rape were a "crock" and that she was with the accuser the entire evening except for a period of less than five minutes.
The second dancer, Kim Roberts, made that statement when she was first contacted by Durham police one week after the party where the first escort service dancer said she was gang raped by three men.
Roberts' statements and notes of the detectives in the case were made public today in a court filing by lawyers for one of the defendants, Reade Seligmann, 20, of Essex Falls, N.J.
Seligmann's lawyers said police omitted important facts contradicting the accuser's story when they obtained an order to photograph and take DNA samples from the players, including Roberts' statements to police.
Investigator Benjamin Himan first contacted Roberts on March 20, one week after the lacrosse party that ended in the early hours of March 14.
"She heard that (the accuser) was sexually assaulted, which she stated is a 'crock' and she stated that she was with her the whole time until she left," according to Himan's notes. "The only time she was alone was when she would not leave and that time period was less than five minutes."
The willingness of the Paleo-press to blindly accept the claims of a demi-mondaine in her charges against these members of the Duke LaCrosse team is unacceptable. No "retraction" however prominently displayed will be sufficient to give these kids their lives back undamaged. This has been a despicable act of poor journalism. The DA in this case has been given a complete pass on his election motivated persecution of the LaCrosse team members.

Police investigating the Duke University lacrosse team on rape allegations "omitted" notes from a second dancer at the party, who told authorities the alleged victim had been drinking, was acting "crazy" and that her colleague's accusation was a "crock," a defense attorney said Thursday. In court documents filed Thursday, attorney Kirk Osborn said that Durham, North Carolina, police "intentionally, deliberately and/or recklessly omitted" information from a probable cause affidavit -- information Osborn says would have persuaded the judge not to file felony charges against three of the players. The district attorney's office did not return a call seeking comment.

Just when you think this case couldn't get any weaker, more information comes to light showing the complete incompetence of district attorney Mike Nifong.
The only thing left to make this case even weaker would be the accuser herself finally coming forward to admit that she lied about the whole thing, which would make it even harder for district attorney to win the case, but Mike Nifong would probably ignore that piece of evidence as well in his quest to maliciously prosecute these young men.
