Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Once more the paranoiacs on the Left are playing the “Chicken Little” tapes. “NSA monitoring!” “NSA monitoring!” (the Sky is falling!). Oh no, what are we to do?

Funny thing, the American people don’t seem to be terribly upset about it, only the Bush haters and blame America firsters are echoing the cries of panic from the mainstream media (MSM) The latest poll numbers show that roughly two-thirds of Americans believe the Bush Administration is doing the right thing in this.

Oh, I'm sure by the time the Extremist Democrats and the MSM get finished with this story, they will have succeeded in beating this down to a minority. They just haven't been doing their jobs well enough. Nothing like a little political agenda to destroy a good reasonable precautionary procedure. Democrats and RINO Republicans are good at that.

Afterall we can't have the American people supporting the President on this. By golly if they do, then Democrats might not win back control of Congress. And if the President actually succeeds in defeating terrorism (at least as far as having no successful attacks in America for the rest of his administration) then Democrats might not win the White House in 2008.

For Democrats, that is the “worst case scenario.” Not that American citizens might die from a terrorist attack, no that is of secondary importance, their primary fear is that they might not get elected and they will pursue the goal of re-acquiring the reins of power no matter what the cost.

We have already heard from the ACLU (that’s the American Communist Lawyers Union, I believe). They are outraged that they somehow missed the President’s phone call asking their permission to do this. Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union stated (I know this will shock you as well):

"Both the attorney general and the president have lied to the American people about the scope and nature of the NSA's program. It's clearly not focused on international calls and clearly not just focused on terrorists.”

Of course they lied to you Anthony, that's why it's called "covert." The idea is not to let the enemy know what we're doing. It's not your business. We elected George W. Bush as President, not the ACLU. It is in him that we have chosen to place our trust, not the ACLU.

Somehow you in the ACLU have deluded yourselves into believing that you are the sole arbitor of what is right and what is wrong. This self-appointed group of lawyers (Surely the most ethical profession, need I say more?) is upset that the President didn't consult with them before instituting this reletively routine procedure.

Funny, I don’t recall them being so concerned when it was President Clinton doing this. I don’t recall them jumping out and declaring their outrage at the violation of civil rights when it was revealed that hundreds of citizen’s FBI files somehow found their way into the Clinton White House.

Why is it that the ACLU is so selective in their enthusiasm to protect our Constitutional rights, as they imagine them to be? Remember this is the same ACLU that is currently suing the government to prevent them from passing a law to stop hate mongers from staging protests at the funerals of our fallen soldiers. This is the same ACLU that routinely fights for the rights of NAZI's to march and purvey their hatred, especially in neighborhoods in which the targets of this hatred live.

To the ACLU, there is no right or wrong except that which they dictate. They don't seem capable of understanding that our rights under the Constitution are not and never have been absolute, unlimited rights. There are limits to our Constitutional rights, and always have been. The trick is knowing where to place those limits

The Democrats seem to have mixed loyalties. They seem ready to accept any overture by a terrorist as reasonable, but are immediately suspect of our duly elected President. Madeleine Albright suggests that we have a real opportunity to discuss matters concerning Iran’s policies. She seems to readily accept Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s 18 page tirade on face value as an overture toward peace, but she fails utterly to trust this administrations efforts. She doesn’t think that Kim Il Jung is insane, but she apparently questions President Bush’s competence.

Is it sane to trust those who have repeatedly attack free nations more than those who have protected us?

Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Keystone Democrats think the President is incompetent and deceitful, but seems perfectly willing to trust Osama bin Laden not to attack us out of some mythical good will. She and her fellow Leftwing Pollyanna’s seem to trust our enemies more than they do the President. Go figure!

We’ve paid the price for the lax security measures of the Clinton administration, the missed opportunity to imprison Osama bin Laden, the emasculation of the American Military, building up of restrictive walls within the intelligence community, the theft and destruction of top security files by a member of the Clinton administration, the unresponsiveness to terror attacks. These are all consistent with Democrats being in charge of our security. We don’t have to guess, we have proof of their incompetence and naiveté.

I continually read the cries of outrage that our rights have been violated. Have they? Have those who are complaining been in touch with terrorist organizations? That is the only way in which their activities would be of interest to anyone.

The American Left seems to have abandoned its dalliance with paranoia and embraced it whole heartedly. Liberals have abandoned any pretense of sanity for the delusions of the Tin Hat Society. If you believe there is a conspiracy behind every bush and then go looking for one, you will surely find one. It is a self-fulfilling delusion.

After all you’d be paranoid too, if everyone was out to get you.
