Jeb Bush: Petty, Ungrateful, Useless, Disloyal

GOP ups head on Harris to quit

TALLAHASSEE — Pressure continued to mount Tuesday for U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris to step aside for another Republican candidate in the U.S. Senate race.

Gov. Jeb Bush, in his strongest expression of doubt about Harris' campaign, told reporters Tuesday that while she has "every right to run," he would like someone else to enter the race against Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson.

"I hope so," Bush said. "I've not made any suggestion about her getting out of the race, but I do think Sen. Nelson is vulnerable. I have doubts about whether she can win. There may be other candidates that aspire to the job that have a better chance of winning."

Bush's comments came shortly after Al Cardenas, who led the Republican Party of Florida from 1999-2003, urged her to withdraw.

"It's highly unlikely she can succeed," Cardenas said. "Katherine Harris being our sole nominee is not in the party's best interest."

He said it would be "better for her and for the party" if she dropped out.

The person most frequently mentioned as the GOP hopeful is state House Speaker Allan Bense of Panama City. Bense has said he would not decide until after the legislative session ends Friday.

The qualifying period for federal races begins at noon Monday and ends at noon May 12, putting pressure on GOP leaders to find an alternative candidate in a short time.

Meanwhile, Harris' campaign announced it would begin airing a 30-second television ad Wednesday throughout the state. The ad will run in every market in the state for about 10 days, which would take it to the end of the qualifying period.

"The spot demonstrates Katherine Harris' commitment to this race and to the people of Florida," said campaign spokesman Chris Ingram. He would not say how much the ad cost.
Jeb Bush is a useless human being. If it wasn't for Katherine Harris standing in the breach and adhering to the law following the 2000 presidential election in Florida, we would now have Al Gore for our President. Talk about a nightmare scenario.

Jeb Bush couldn't or wouldn't do anything to stop the SCOFLA's (Supreme Court of Florida) attempted coup. Katherine Harris on the other hand stayed true to both the letter and the spirit of Florida's election prdedures as laid out by the state legislature (as required by the Constitution of the United States. It was on this very basis-that the SCOFLA was trying to alter the laws of the state against the will of the Florida Legislature-that the SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) overturned the SCOFLA's decision.

Instead of showing their gratitude to Katherine Harris for a job well and boldly done, they are in effect spitting in her face. We are once again seeing what happens when Republicans become gutless moderates.

At one point I thought maybe Jeb would be a good candidate for the next presidency. No longer. His incompetence in this matter as well as his continued efforts fighting against oil exploration offshore Florida, and the resulting efforts of Cuba to pursue that very policy, removes Governor Bush from my consideration. He is unworthy of my support, and unworthy of the name Republican.

I hear they all still like her but this is all about the negative turnout she will produce, which they fear.

It is a sad day for the Republican Party when they begin setting their policies out of fear rather than conviction.

Please don't use the word "conviction" and Republican in the same sentence!
