Wa-Post Ombudsman Discovers Truth About Liberals
Paper Shutters Blog After Ombudsman PostThis is too funny. If this is the first time the Washington Post's ombudsman has been exposed to this kind of hate attack, then she is seriously naive about her newspaper's primary targeted audience. Liberals Hate. A brief visit to dailyKos.com or DemocraticUnderground.com will reveal this simple fact. The vitriole and obscene language that so offended MS. Howell is routinely used by the denizens of those pages and directed at those who disagree with them. A visit to similar conservative pages would reveal no parallel behavior. Conservatives may lash out on occasion, but the language used is usually tempered by our religious beliefs. Michelle Malkin has experienced this kind of hate and had Ms. Howell bothered to even read the jacket of Michelle's book, she would have expected this behavior. You will find the same lack of ethics if you spend anytime watching C-Span's callin programs. It is quite common to hear a Liberal Democrat call in posing as a Republican or Bush supporter, only to launch into an attack on the Republicans and President Bush. The converse very rarely happens. Liberals just can't control themselves, their hatred is just too great.

WASHINGTON
The Washington Post shut down one of its blogs Thursday after the newspaper's ombudsman raised the ire of readers by writing that lobbyist Jack Abramoff gave money to the Democrats as well as to Republicans.
At the center of a congressional bribery investigation, Abramoff gave money to Republicans while he had his clients donate to both parties, though mostly to Republicans.
In her Sunday column, ombudsman Deborah Howell wrote that Abramoff "had made substantial campaign contributions to both major parties," prompting a wave of nasty reader postings on post.blog.
There were so many personal attacks that the newspaper's staff could not "keep the board clean, there was some pretty filthy stuff," and so the Post shut down comments on the blog, or Web log, said Jim Brady, executive editor of washingtonpost.com.
"We're not giving up on the concept of having a healthy public dialogue with our readers, but this experience shows that we need to think more carefully about how we do it," Brady wrote on the newspaper's Web site. "There are things that we said we would not allow, including personal attacks, the use of profanity and hate speech.
For the Post's ombudsman not to know this speaks volumes.

Too bad. Just when you thought Deborah Howell succeeded in her mass deletion attempt do we find out that those bots worked faster than her.

It is not likely that you will read my thoughts with any sort of fairness - you may even feel the need to delete such a heretical counterpoint to your own hatred. So be it.
I happened upon your post via some google search, and then read a few of your comments. You have a very skewed and uninformed idea of what and who "liberals" - whatever that term means these days - are.
Your standard accusation in each of the articles I read was "Liberals Hate". I have no idea where you get that idea. Hate what? Beside the ignorant rhetoric you engage in in this charge it simply isnt true. I wonder if you will ever write a serious article that details why you make this accusation. Something beside the bile of a bully. Something that would actually take a reasoned view of whatever examples you wish to exemplify.
I for one, do not hate. I do not hate you, nor America, quite the opposite. I dont really know what the term liberal means more than a very inaccurate tag to attempt to predefine people are that is no more useful than saying "Those Chinese people are all..., Those black people are just so..., Those liberals are just a bunch of....". See, it is rediculous as a reasonable form of intellegent conversation.
The things you cite are not hatred. Any more than the equally damning articles that could be cited as "conservative hatred". In most cases it is reasonable policy differences that deserve intellegent airing in the public square. In other cases, like the Clooney article, it is just people making fun of other people - often inapproperately. Again there are plenty of examples, on the "other" side.
Take a breath. And make a reasonable point or counterpoint. You likely have something of value to add to the public conversation. This sort of rhetorical bombast is not it.
I'll check back from time to time to see if you choose to respond to this. If you do it may be interesting to have a real conversation about real things. I'll engage. But not in sterotype and bile.
Anon,
Well spoken, you must be terribly uninformed on your Liberal compadres. Try visiting democraticunderground.com, or dailyKos.com and reading the comments on articles posted there. The vitriol and hatred of those of us on the Right is quite evident.
If you visit Buzzflash or Rawstory you will see the same thing.
Try listening to C-Span in the morning you will hear tons of hatred. Name calling of President Bush-Hitler, Nazi, Mass murder, Chimpy, Stupid-can you feel the love?
Wake up!
